San Antonio College students' network for the 2008 election

In September 2000, MTV’s Choose or Lose campaign and the Kaiser Family Foundation conducted a survey on Voting Trends in Americans aged 18-24. Of these about a quarter of the youth planned to vote. The article touched on: rationale for lack of voter participation, mainly lack of information; youth perspectives on voting, like 75% think that voting empowers by giving an output for their opinions; and suggestions on how to increase voter participation, mainly making voting more accessible and convenient.

I believe this article shows some ignorance on the part of today’s youth. Many do not understand the importance of voting, however many show that they really are interested in politics, but do not think their ideas are reflected by candidates and politicians. I think this generation has great potential, but needs to realize that participation is the only way to get your ideas out there. As there is more participation, the ideas that gather will show the true voice of the people.

I also agree with you,we have to think that the only way for us to get our ideas out is participating. Not participating is just showing the lack of interest from us! Good summary
