Immigration and Obama

When given the opportunity to choose a candidate and an issue, I decided to choose an issue that was near and dear to my heart, so I decided to select immigration. I chose this issue because, living in the southwest my entire life, immigration is a constant concern for me and my family and all citizens in the southwest United States. Since I have lived in the southwest for almost my entire life I am pretty well versed in John McCain’s policy’s and how he wants to handle the issue. So I thought i… Continue

Obama's and Immigration

For the back ground on this issue I have researched many things. According to Alan Greenblatt, The 1952 law also attempted to address — in the era's racist terms — the newly acknowledged reality of Mexican workers who crossed the border illegally. Border Patrol agents were given more power to search for illegal immigrants and a bigger territory in which to operate. Also because of the September 11th act, now the public has to show more identification like social security cards, driver’s licenses… Continue

Obama on Education

The issue of education is a long standing struggle in the United States. For year plans and programs have been introduced and implemented some with success and most with lackluster results. Most recently the largest attempt to boot education was the no child left behind initiative. The pillars of

Obama on Immigration

A bit of background on immigration
The United States was created as a nation of immigrants who left Europe for political, religious and economic reasons. After independence, the new nation maintained an open-door immigration policy for 100 years. Two great waves of immigrants — in the mid-1800s and the late-19th and early-20th centuries — drove the nation's westward expansion and built its cities and industrial base.

After several false starts, Congress passed the immigration Reform and… Continue

Immigration, except for the Indians, America was founded by Spain, France, Germans, Dutch, Swedes, and that’s only a start. But we are not the immigrants our government wants to stop. Back in 1986 Congress passed the Immigration reform and control act, this was the most revised immigration policy in two decades. Then in 1966 congress doubled the border Patrol more INS investigators, new border patrol devices and a fence, a very lengthy fence. All this to keep out illegal immigrants from entering our country, acquiring jobs we do not want to do, to improve their way of life, and feed their children. They are not the problem it’s the employers that hire these people, pay below minimum wages, and take advantage of these people. It’s these employers that need to go to jail, and pay heavy finds, loose their contractor’s license if as in construction. Again both Obama and McMain have proposed to resolve these issues, well see.
